When I was in Elementary School, I was chosen to partake in the Gifted Program. I only joined because I wanted in on their SeaWorld Trip (only they got to go, and I would be damned if I didn't get to go too 0_0), and so I was tested and accepted (was worth it). Through the program I learned to write my essay, to better calibrate my mind, learning to use the break-apart method mentally, and increasing it's speed through practice. I learned how to estimate how tall a building is by utilizing proportions. If I am 6ft tall, with a 1.5ft long shadow the proportion is 4/1 or 1/4 depending on which I am trying to find, so if the building has a shadow of 10ft, and I measured utilizing the angle of the sun appropriately, I can estimate the building is about 40ft tall.
